10 Miles for Pride This February Join the Challenge
Ten miles might sound like a big number at first. Then you break it down. A mile before work. A short wheel around the park. A weekend walk with a friend. A steady run when the weather behaves. Suddenly, it becomes something anyone can take on.
This February, Walsall Pride is inviting the community to join 10 Miles for Pride, a fundraising challenge built around one simple idea: move 10 miles in your own way, at your own pace, and help raise vital funds for your local Pride charity.
You do not need to be an athlete. You do not need fancy kit. You do not need to complete it all in one go. You just need to care about Pride, community, inclusion and making Walsall a place where everyone can feel seen.
What is 10 Miles for Pride
10 Miles for Pride is a February challenge for the Walsall Pride family and everyone who supports it.
The goal is simple. Complete 10 miles during the month of February and raise sponsorship for Walsall Pride. You can walk, run, wheel, cycle or mix it up. You can do the full 10 miles in one day, split it across a few weekends, or chip away at it bit by bit throughout February.
This challenge has been designed to be open and flexible. Pride belongs to the whole community, so the challenge should too.
That means 10 miles could look like:
Two five-mile walks with friends
Ten one-mile trips around your neighbourhood
A few gym sessions on a treadmill or static bike
A wheelchair route through a local park
A family bike ride across a couple of weekends
A gentle walk to the shops and back, logged over time
There is no “right” way to do it. The only aim is to get moving and raise what you can.
Why your miles matter
Walsall Pride brings people together. It celebrates LGBTQ+ lives, supports visibility, and helps create a sense of belonging for people who may not always feel safe, heard or represented.
Events like Pride do not happen by magic. They take planning, volunteers, equipment, safety measures, performers, community support and ongoing fundraising. Every donation helps keep that work going.
When someone sponsors your 10 miles, they are not just backing a personal challenge. They are helping to support a local charity that exists to celebrate diversity and bring the community together.
Small donations add up. A few pounds from a neighbour, a colleague, a family member or a friend can help Walsall Pride continue building something the town can be proud of.

10 miles. One community. One Pride.
How to take part this February
Getting involved is easy. The challenge has been kept simple so more people can say yes.
Start by signing up and creating your fundraising page on GoodHub (Click Here). This gives you one place to collect donations and share your challenge with the people supporting you.
Add a short personal message if you can. It does not need to be perfect. Just explain why Pride matters to you, why you are taking part, and what completing 10 miles will mean.
Choose how you will complete your 10 miles
Pick a route, a method and a pace that suits you.
You could walk through your local streets, cycle with friends, run a familiar loop, wheel through a park, or spread shorter distances across the month. If February weather gets in the way, indoor miles count too.
The challenge is about participation, not perfection.
Set a fundraising target
Give yourself a target that feels achievable. Some people may aim for £25. Others may push for £100 or more.
A clear target gives supporters something to rally around. It also gives you a reason to keep sharing your progress.
Ask people to sponsor you
Start with the people closest to you. Friends, family, neighbours and colleagues are often happy to support a good cause, especially when they understand why it matters.
A simple message works best:
“I’m taking on 10 miles this February to raise funds for Walsall Pride. If you can sponsor me, even a small amount would mean a lot.”
Share your progress
Post updates as you go. Share a photo from your walk, a screenshot of your distance, or a quick note after each mile. Tag Walsall Pride and use #10MilesForPride so others can follow along and join in.
Your update might be the nudge someone else needs to sign up.

What milestone will you hit
Every pound raised helps, and every fundraiser deserves celebrating. Set a target that motivates you, then see how far you can go.
Amount raised | Milestone |
£50 | Pride Champion |
£100 | Pride Hero |
£250+ | Pride Legend |
These milestones are a fun way to track your fundraising but the most important thing is taking part. Whether you raise £10 or £250, you are helping Pride continue in Walsall.
Make the challenge your own
The best part of 10 Miles for Pride is that it can fit around real life.
If you have limited time, try one mile a day for 10 days. If you love a weekend challenge, plan a longer route and bring someone along. If mobility, health or confidence makes 10 miles feel hard, break it down into manageable sections and take rest days whenever you need them.
You can also make it social:
Invite a friend to complete a mile with you
Organise a small group walk
Take your dog along for part of the route
Plan a colourful final mile
Dedicate each mile to someone who inspires you
Keep it safe, choose routes that suit you, and listen to your body. The challenge should feel positive, not pressured.
